iPad 3 is Coming in February.Apple will release the iPad 3 in February, according to a Citi analyst. In a research note sent Thursday, Richard Gardner said "several sources" indicated that Apple would launch its next-generation iOS tablet as much as a month earlier than it released the iPad 2 in 2011.
The iPad 3's screen will boast double the resolution of the iPad 2's, according to Gardner, whose note was spotted by Business Insider.
"[T]here do not appear to be any significant technical hurdles remaining" to releasing the next-generation tablet, the Citi analyst wrote. Gardner also predicted that Apple's final iPad sales tally for the fourth quarter of this year would be between 12 and 13 million units.
As a general rule, Apple likes to release new versions of its main consumer hardware products about a year apart—there are exceptions, of course, as when Apple released the iPhone 4S in October, nearly 16 months after making the iPhone 4 available on June 24, 2010.
Though the pattern might not be meaningful given that the iPad is only in its second generation, Apple did pull in the U.S. release date of the iPad 2 by about three weeks, making it available on March 11, 2011 as compared with the April 3, 2010 launch of the original iPad. With that in mind, pulling the iPad 3 release even further in to February wouldn't be particularly shocking.

Apple iPhone 5 Rumored to Arrive in 2012
Apple iPhone 5 Rumored to Arrive in 2012; What Specs will It have?As it happened, there was no iPhone 5 launched by Apple this week, but the company did announce the iPhone 4S. However, the iPhone 5 is still on the cards - we're expecting it to debut in late 2012. You can check out the latest rumours about iPhone 5 below our complete coverage of the new iPhone 4S.
Hands-on with Magic Cube Bluetooth portable laser keyboard
While the Magic Cube is a nifty novelty, I wouldn't expect it to replace the dozens of physical keyboards we saw at CES. You can connect it via USB (PC-only it seems) or Bluetooth, and it comes in a variety of colors, but as a keyboard it just doesn't cut it. In the end, it felt about as useful as those old membrane keyboards (like the ones on the TIMEX Sinclair) with a resulting slowdown in typing and loss of accuracy. Here's hoping some day our magical tech dreams come true -- but until then, save your US$199.99 and spend it on a real keyboard.
The Galaxy S2 is expected to be direct competition for the iPhone 5

Dubbed the "iPhone Killer," the Galaxy S2 beat out the Apple iPhone 5, which ranked second at 23 percent. Coming in third is the HTC Sensation with 11 percent.
After the top three, favorable numbers sharply drop. The SE Xperia Arc and BlackBerry Bold 9900 rank fourth and fifth with four percent of the vote.
The HTC Desire S and the Google Nexus S rank sixth and seventh with two percent.

Google's First Self-Driving Car Crash Was Caused By a Human
If a self-driving car hits another car, who takes the blame? Police in Mountain View, Calif. might have asked that question last week when one of Google's automated vehicles got into a fender bender.
Japolnik received photos from a source that witnessed the crash, which took place near Google's headquarters in Mountain View. Both cars involved in the accident were Prisues, but Google's self-driving car is identifiable by the equipment on its roof. Google hasn't released an accident report, but a source later told NBC Bay Area that there were actually five cars involved. Google's Prius struck another Prius, which then hit a Honda Accord which hit another Accord, which rounded out the pile-up by hitting a third Prius.
Ironically enough, the self-driving car wasn't actually driving itself when the accident happened.
iPad 2 with Wi-Fi
People have been dreaming about video calling for decades. iPhone 4 makes and ipad 2 it a reality. With the tap of a button, you can wave hello to your kids, share a smile from across the globe, or watch your best friend laugh at your stories — iPhone 4 to iPhone 4, iPad 2, the new iPod touch, or Mac over Wi-Fi. No other phone makes staying in touch this much fun.
ViewSonic Introduces Two Tablet Computers
In an effort to tap the lucrative market of tablet computers, technology giant ViewSonic has released its own versions which are powered by Android 2.2 complemented with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
One of the tablet computers, which is called ViewPad 7, is going to be released in late November or early December and is priced at around $479. With this, the company is expecting to take advantage of the shopping season which traditionally posts high consumer spending.
Meanwhile, the company has not given complete details on the features of ViewPad 7 but said that it will come with a 10-inch screen, Wi-Fi Technology, BlueTooth Connectivity, Goode Services that include the Android Market, and 3G Technology which means that consumers can use SIM card of their choice.
The computer table, which features IPS screen display and multi-touch screen, falls short when it comes to projecting high resolution pictures since it can only display videos of up to 480p. (It only has an 800-by-480-pixel.) Priced at around $479

Cisco's rumored telepresence-at-home system is now official and it's called Umi. The set up comprises a set top box, a remote, and a 1080p camera that sits on top of your TV. It's the new way to visit grandma!
According to Engadget, the Umi will place video calls at 1080p and record them at 720p, and its camera reportedly has autofocus, autoexposure, white balance, optical zoom, and a motor for panning and tilting as needed.

Visa payWave Cases To Turn iPhones Into Credit Cards
Since using a regular RFID-enabled credit card isn't flashy enough, you'll soon be able to slip your iPhone into a special Visa payWave case along with a memory card and simply wave it at cash registers to pay for things:
The technology will be possible thanks to a protective iPhone case that will include a secure memory card that will hold Visa's contactless payment application, called Visa payWave. The application, which is compatible with the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, can be password protected and includes advanced security technology to uniquely identify each contactless transaction.
Supposedly the same sort of memory cards and cases should work with other smarthphones as well, but we'll hopefully know more about the technology this summer. [Apple Insider]

Skype 2.0 With 3G Calling Lands on iPhone
Skype 2.0 for iPhone has finally arrived, bringing with it the 3G calling that's been promised for months and months. But get your calls in quick—there will be a "small monthly fee" for Skype-to-Skype calls after August.
That's an unpleasant surprise, definitely, but at least for the summer you'll get the 3G Skype-to-Skype action you might've forgotten you were waiting for. Here's the full rundown of what's new:
Upgrades / improvements include:
- Call using your 3G connection. Skype-to-Skype calls on 3G are free until at least end of August 2010, after which there will be a small monthly fee (operator charges for data will still apply).
- Near CD-quality sound for Skype-to-Skype calls using wideband audio (SILK codec) on iPhone 3GS and 2nd generation iPod touch.
- Enhanced call quality indicator.
- Improved start-up time.
- Fast access to the dial pad from iPhone home screen.

New Blu-ray Discs Store Up to 128GB Per Disc
Soon, users at home may have a safer alternative to storing their backup data on magnetic hard drives. The Blu-ray Disc Association has released a press statement highlighting new format enhancements of the Blu-ray technology, including discs that store up to 128GB.
Within the next few months, two new media specifications will hit the market: BDXL (High Capacity Recordable and Rewritable Discs) and IH-BD (Intra-Hybrid discs).
The BDXL specifications will allow a write-once option, and come in both 100GB and 128GB capacity discs, as well as rewritable capacity on 100GB discs. The storage jump is due to an increase in the number of layers the discs can record on. The commonly seen single-layer Blu-ray discs currently hold 25GB, while slightly more obscure (and pricey), but readily available dual-layer Blu-ray discs can hold up to 50GB.
The Intra-Hybrid Blu-ray Disc is designed to allow users to write to the disc via an application, while not being allowed to overwrite critical date. The IH-BD will incorporate a single BD-ROM layer, and a single BD-RE layer, and provide up to 25GB of capacity.
“Professional industries have expressed a desire to find optical disc solutions that enable them to transition away from magnetic media for their archiving needs,” said Victor Matsuda, Blu-ray Disc Association Global Promotions Committee chair.
With businesses and home users ever increasing the amount of data they need to store, the new Blu-ray formats could offer consumers a safer alternative to magnetic drives that can crash and lose data. But there is a catch.
“Because both BDXL and IH-BD are specially designed formats with specific market segments in mind, newly-designed hardware is required to play back or record BDXL or IH-BD media,” according to the press release.
Although the future hardware will be backward compatible, existing Blu-ray devices will not recognize the discs.
A recordable Blu-ray single-layer disc can cost $15 or more, while dual layer discs can run $25. No word yet on the cost of the new discs.
Asus tablet
ASUS Eee Pad specifications for Windows 7 and Android
Tuesday, May 2010
As previously reported, ASUS is spreading its bets on two types of tablets. One will run Google’s Android OS and the other will be the Eee Pad running Windows 7. ASUS chooses to first deliver the Windows 7 device and see the response it gets. The Android tablet is not expected anytime soon. The latter tablet is most certainly meant as a competitor to the iPad as it’s so lightweight (as in software and hardware).
The response to the Windows 7 tablet will most probably be negative, as it has been with most of the Windows 7 tablets to date.
Samsung Tablet
New iPhone and IPad in 2010, sorry it’s Samsung
Android Tablet
The Google Android Tablet was in its real “prototype” shape with acrylic used as its enclosure.
The best part about the Google Android Tablet?
It runs Adobe’s Flash and Air apps flawlessly. That was the first time I saw Adobe’s Air apps running on a tablet and totally impressed by how it ran. And now I can understand why Apple wants to ban Flash and other Adobe products completely from their iPhones and iPads, because it’s rather incredible technology.
The prototype that was demo-ed at the Web 2.0 Expo show was showing the current workings of the Wired magazine’s Google Tablet app. Certainly, it looks like Google Android tablet will make a big impact on worldwide tablet sales.
I, for one, want to get one of these over an iPad, simply because I need the choice of having “flash” on my tablet computer. What’s the point of carry a 10-inch slab of technology if it doesn’t give you the best of both worlds?
Samsung Tablet
Given the leaked picture that as good as confirmed Samsung's move into the tablet market emanated from the firm's official South African Twitter feed, it was very unlikely the tech giant would be able to close down the chatter that followed.
Indeed, the company has now given in and confirmed the tablet's development, with a release planned – although not cemented - for later in the year.
"While Samsung is aiming to bring a device to market in the second half of this year, we have not yet confirmed the markets for launch or detailed product specifications," the firm said in an email to InformationWeek.
Android for all
The device, which was pictured next to Samsung's Galaxy S (below), will have a seven-inch touchscreen and run Android (we believe via Samsung's custom TouchWiz UI), but very little else is known about either is specs or its roll out.
At the time of the leak, a spokesperson for Samsung South Africa suggested the tablet had only been confirmed for release in that country, as ridiculous as that might sound.
Even its name is up for debate, with talk from tech blogs suggesting it will adopt Samsung's Galaxy brand and be dubbed the GalaxyTab, while gaming focused sources are – perhaps rather cynically - touting sPad as the most likely moniker.
Given iPad's userbase is predicted to hit ten million by the end of the year, being so direct in its pitching might not be such as bad idea.

HTC HD2 NEW
HTC HD2 After just a minute playing with the device, it was easy to see that this might be the best Windows Mobile 6.5 device possible. First off, it's one of the most beautiful, elegant pieces of hardware I've held in my hands. I already heard about official threads of the HTC HD2 not being able to upgrade to Win7, however there is still something Microsoft is hiding from there customers hard fought money. And that might actually be a surprise upgrade for this powerful handset. Look out this August 22!

Microsoft
Mobile 7 phone
In short Windows Mobile 7 looks to be another dynamic holiday launch for Microsoft. Former Microsoft VP Dick Brass (see his recent criticism) better be taking note -- because this new phone OS is arguably the most revolutionary thing to happen to the phone market since the launch of the first iPhone in 2007. Looks like Apple might finally have a true fight ( a true fight) on its hands for the title of trendiest smart phone.

IPhone 4G
iPhone 4G
It hasn't even been a year since the iPhone 3GS, and people are already looking toward the next iPhone, which some speculate may be called the iPhone 4G. The iPhone 3GS offered only incremental changes to the iPhone 3G's hardware -- and it looked exactly the same. Rumors suggest that the iPhone 4G will be available as early as May or June, and may have a new design, a faster processor, a 5-megapixel camera, and an OLED screen -- features that would rival those on Google's Nexus One. Other rumors hint at a removable battery, video chat support, and a redone app store. The rumors aren't totally out of left field -- an army of Androids are marching into the smartphone market. We believe this will force Apple to upgrade its iPhone more drastically, and sooner, in order to stay competitive in a quickly-changing market
new XBOX 360
Nintendo had better watch its back, because Microsoft has announced a new controller for the Xbox 360 -- a controller that allows you to play without a controller. Dubbed "Project Natal," the new Xbox 360 controller looks similar to the Nintendo Wii's sensor bar: a small bar that sits above or below your television and tracks your movements. But Microsoft has one-upped the Wii by adding 3-D motion tracking, voice recognition and facial recognition to Project Natal

You may really love your Marlboro lights, but we seriously doubt that you love them enough to be willing to purchase a cigarette-box-phone (if that's what you call it). This phone is a dual-band GSM device, has a 1.6-inch display, MP3/MP4 player, Bluetooth, FM radio, and a 1.3-megapixel camera on the side. The real bonus is that you can actually keep some cigarettes inside it, probably as an emergency supply, eh?
